Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and sent India in to bat first.

In the first three balls of the 38th over, Maharoof had Ravindra Jadeja trapped lbw, bowled Praveen Kumar and then saw Zaheer Khan edge a delivery to wicketkeeper Sangakkara to complete a hat-trick. He finished with career-best figures of 5-42. It was his second five-wicket haul.

Rohit Sharma was India's top scorer with 69. Both teams have already qualified for the final.

lPakistan coach Waqar Younis yesterday congratulated Pakistani-born batsman Usman Khawaja, 23, on becoming the first Muslim to make the Australian Test squad, calling him a role model for immigrants.
