GAUTENG MEC for sport, arts, culture and recreation Nelisiwe Moerane's Meyerton home was torched during a burglary at the weekend.
Department spokes-person Nomvula Khalo said: "She, her husband and their three young children, are staying at her parent's home in Eva ton. She lost everything in the fire."
Moerane's house was burnt down on Saturday morning. There was no one in the house when the incident occurred.
"She is not coping with what happened," Khalo said.
The department said yesterday: "The extent of the damage is not yet known and this can only be determined once full investigation has been completed.
"The police are investigating and we hope the perpetrators are brought to book."
Police spokesperson Constable Tebogo Lephoto could not be reached for comment.
