Fans miss out on big screen

WHILE the world was watching the opening game of the first World Cup on African soil last week, a community in Limpopo was deprived of the opportunity of a lifetime.

This was because a service provider failed to install a big screen at a public viewing area.

Residents of Monsterlus and surrounding areas under the Elias Motsoaledi municipality could not watch the official opening and the game between Bafana Bafana and Mexico at Hlogotlou Stadium on Friday last week.

A woman who did not want to be named said she left the venue at 1.30pm since nothing was happening.

A source at the Greater Sekhukhune district municipality said the supply chain management unit had issued the tender only a day before the match. - Frank Maponya
