Aces officials at loggerheads

ABSA Premiership relegation survivors Mpumalanga Black Aces' problems continue.

ABSA Premiership relegation survivors Mpumalanga Black Aces' problems continue.

In the most recent development Aces co-chairperson Mario Morfou accused spokesperson Thabo Moroape of feeding incorrect information to the media.

This came after Sowetan enquired about bonuses promised to players for retaining the club's status in the National First Division playoffs.

According to sources at the club players were promised R100000 each for saving Aces from relegation.

A source who asked not be named said yesterday: "Instead of being paid R100000, players were given the option of a R40000 bonus and having their contracts renewed, or opt for R100000 without renewal. This is a betrayal of the players who went all out to save Aces."

Morfou said Moroape had disclosed the information.

He said: "That is b******t because we have put aside R2million for the players for retaining our Premiership status. If Thabo continues to rubbish us like this we will not renew his contract, which expires at the end of this month," he said. Moroape was not our source.
