Endangered dog species

WHAT are African wild dogs?

WHAT are African wild dogs?

African wild dogs are endangered. Only between 2000 and 5000 of them remain in the wild, mostly in game reserves or national parks.

They are the size of medium domestic dogs with coats that are mottled in shades of brown, black and beige.

They have large, rounded ears and dark brown circles around their eyes. They differ from wolves and other dogs in that they have four toes instead of five.

They weigh between 17kg and 36kg, are between 60cm and 76cm high and can live for up to 10 years.
