KATHERINE Heigl did not adopt daughter Naleigh because it was "trendy".
The Killers star says she is "very grateful" to have the 10-month-old baby in her life, and admits her mother's decision to adopt Korean child Meg when she was little helped inform her choice.
The 31-year-old actress said: "It's so funny. My mom and I joke about it when people say 'You're just doing it because it's trendy'."
"My mom says, 'Well, I'm trendier than everybody because I was doing it in the 70s when I adopted your sister'.
"I'm very grateful for this little being in my life. I'm very grateful she's my daughter. I'm so grateful we found each other."
Discussing her husband Josh Kelley, Heigl admits she is surprised she still loves him after more than four years of married life.
