A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy from Taiwan informal settlement in Khayelitsha is living in fear after he was allegedly sodomised twice by a neighbour.
The boy sees the neighbour, who is out on bail, every day.
The boy was allegedly sodomised by the 30-year-old man in April. But a magistrate released the man on R700 bail. And though the angry community destroyed the man's shack after the alleged rape, he soon moved back into the area.
The boy's mother, whose name is being withheld, said the man's family had approached her, asking to settle out of court, but she refused.
One day the boy went to play after school and came home without his underwear and shoes. He could not say what had happened to him and refused to eat that night. But the family noticed that he had been abused.
The next day the boy's mother said he told a neighbour that it was the second time the man had sodomised him.
The mother said they took the boy to a doctor, who confirmed that he had been sodomised.
After the man was arrested angry residents demolished his shack.
The man will appear again in the Khayelitsha magistrate's court next week Wednesday.
