'Kick the ball all the way into the goal'

South Africans from all walks of life will be willing the boys on. Here are some of their messages

Anglican Archbishop Thabo Makgoba said: "I know I am praying for the best team to win but I am vying all the way for Bafana Bafana. I hope they keep their heads down and don't kick the man but kick the ball all the way into the goal."lIFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi: "On behalf of the Inkatha Freedom Party, I would like to wish the South African football team and their coach Carlos Parreira the best of luck as they embark on this historical and momentous 2010 World Cup journey."

lDA leader Helen Zille: "On behalf of the Democratic Alliance I wish Bafana Bafana all the best for the opening match against Mexico and the rest of the tournament going forward. Dlalani kakuhle Bafana Bafana. Re ka moraho ha lona ka nako tsohle."

lUDM president Bantu Holomisa: "We are all behind our players and we hope they will not disappoint us. They must avoid playing the ball at the back unnecessarily.

"We must put our opponents under pressure by playing our balls in front."
