PARTY people, it's all systems go for today's much-anticipated Fifa KickOff Celebration Concert at Soweto's Orlando Stadium.

International performers Shakira, John Legend and Alicia Keys completed a full dress rehearsal last night, after the two Americans sneaked into the country two days ago following the Colombian's chaotic arrival at OR Tambo Airport on Monday.

More than 28000 concert tickets had been sold by last night, with just a few still on offer. For R950 you can witness history. Tony Feldman of Showtime Entertainment said the world should brace itself for a show like no other.

"Everyone is here. Tickets are practically sold out, so anyone still looking to buy should hurry," Feldman said.

"The stage is incredible. It's one of the most beautiful ever built in South Africa."

The show's chief choreographer, world-renowned dancer Gregory Maqoma, will open the extravaganza with a procession of about 100 dancers and drummers, pouring on to the three-platform stage.

Celebrity presenters, among them Lucas Radebe, will use one stage while the performers will alternate between the other two.

Maqoma's dancers will take to the stage at 8pm, featuring in selected segments, most likely as part of a collaboration between Legend, Angelique Kidjo and the Soweto Gospel Choir.

"My job is not only to look at dancers but at overall movement on stage," he said.

Maqoma said he hoped the show would "create ecstasy and excitement and allow international viewers to see Africa in a different light".

Catch the show on SABC1.
