Celebs back Bafana

THE South African national squad Bafana Bafana might have lacked unconditional public support in the past, but not for the World Cup.

THE South African national squad Bafana Bafana might have lacked unconditional public support in the past, but not for the World Cup.

Young and old have been donning the team's yellow gear for months now and it is great to see the entire nation supporting Bafana.

Now there is even more support from the country's celebrities through advertisements on radio recorded by Absa this week.

With the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup starting on Friday, Absa, Bafana Bafana's premier sponsor, is making it possible for South African celebrities to show their support for their team through a campaign that promises to be simple, honest, patriotic and, above all, memorable.

What is intended with the new Bafana Bafana Campaign, is to continue enabling South Africans to support their national team while at the same time showcasing Absa's pride and belief in our boys.

In the past few months, Absa has collected thousands of messages from across South Africa and used them in adverts to support Bafana Bafana.

In this latest show of support for the team, celebrities, other sportsmen and the media took time out to record the heartfelt message of support for Bafana. The national radio campaign can be heard on June 10 and 11.

Among the celebrities who will take part in the campaign are Liezel van der Westhuizen, Nonhle Thema, Ashley Hayden, Brandon Auret, Julio Garcia and Darren Maule.
