THE multi-million rand road, constructed as part of the Safa 2010 projects and leading to the Mbombela Stadium, is ready for use by motorists.
Clifford Mkasi, Mpumalanga MEC for public works, roads and transport, recently said he was impressed that the road, known as P166, was completed in time to cater for the Soccer World Cup.
"I had the opportunity to drive on that road and I can proudly tell you it is ready for use by the public," he said.
Sowetan had an opportunity to fly over the road in a helicopter on Thursday to get a bird's eye-view.
The road will become a useful route for Mpumalanga for years after the World Cup, especially since it joins the new highway to Mozambique.
