THE final tour of the SoccerWorld Cup trophy ended on a high note in Dlamini, Soweto, this weekend.

THE final tour of the SoccerWorld Cup trophy ended on a high note in Dlamini, Soweto, this weekend.

From Friday morning, hundreds of people gathered at the Dlamini Multipurpose Centre to see the trophy that the 32 teams will be vying for when the World Cup starts. On Friday evening, there were "Pashasha Moments", where people had the opportunity to take pictures with the trophy.

The trophy is 36,5 centimetres tall and is made of 5kg of 18-carat gold.

The trophy has been touring the country and Soweto was its last stop before the start of the tournament.

Mathapelo Khumalo, said: "It is so amazing that we saw the trophy. Now we really feel that the World Cup tournament is here. We will enjoy it."

Zandile Masilela, said: "I would like to thank Fifa for bringing the World Cup here. The trophy is beautiful and I wish Bafana Bafana win it."

But the trophy was not the only attraction for the day. After seeing the trophy, people were then entertained by K'naan, the Somali musician who sings the World Cup anthem Wave Your Flag.
