Search for Live show presenter hotting up

FOUR of South Africa's lively and intelligent youngsters have been shortlisted to present the SABC1's Live programme.

Nandi Mngoma of Umhlanga, Minenhle Dlamini of Durban North, Nkanyiso Masoka of Hammarsdale, west of Durban, and Gavin Rashopala of Polokwane are sitting tight, crossing their fingers that they make the cut.

The new presenter will be announced on June 12.

Because of the World Cup matches, Live, which airs at 9pm on Fridays, has been moved to 6.30pm on Saturday.

Mngoma and Dlamini said yesterday that winning the search for the Live presenter would open a lot of doors.

Ngoma, 22, a final-year law student, has had a snick appearance on television in the past few years and her face could be familiar to viewers.

She presented a teen show called Bling on SABC2 and had appeared in the SABC1 Mzansi for Sho commercial.

She plans to push the struggle against the exploitation of artists through specialising in media law after graduating.

She wants to assist artists and advise them about their rights and prevent them from being exploited.

"I enjoy making people happy and see them smile. Live is going to give me that opportunity."

Dlamini, 19, on the other hand, is a media, drama and economics student at the University of Cape Town.

Born and raised in the upmarket Durban North suburb, she wants to bring originality to television presenting and break the stigma that people become big-headed as soon as they are famous.
