The ANC Youth League's Ike Maphoto branch in Limpopo has suspended a member on allegations of misconduct.
The branch yesterday announced the suspension of Clifford Motsepe, a member of the league's NEC, its disciplinary committee and a senior government official in the province.
Motsepe was suspended with immediate effect on Wednesday following allegations that he had "falsely" accused members of the branch executive committee of having committed fraud against him and the league.
He was also accused of having sought during a branch general meeting to mislead a deployee of the regional executive committee and the general membership of the branch by "falsely and deliberately" lying about the provisions of the ANCYL constitution regarding the procedure and processes for launching a branch.
The suspension letter was delivered at his office in the provincial department of local government and housing, where he is head of the department.
It was signed on his behalf by Felicity Louw, his personal assistant in the department.
Branch chairperson Simon Kekana yesterday confirmed Motsepe's suspension but refused to divulge details.
Motsepe could yesterday not be reached for comment as his phone was switched off.
Meanwhile, the league's former provincial chairperson and secretary, Lehlogonolo Masoga and Goodman Mitileni, are expected to appear before a national disciplinary committee today in connection with the botched provincial elective conference in Makhado.
