One of the campaign's youthful organiser, Ntombi Mthethwa, said both local businesspeople and ordinary residents had shown great interest in the campaign.
Her organising colleague, Sibongiseni Phahla, another young volunteer, said: "We hope to collect new school shoes for 12 primary school pupils in and around the Vosloorus area. Our target is 2000 shoes."
Mthethwa named some of the schools this week: Bopang Kgotso, Abinala, Rebontsheng, Ndlelanhle, Thembakazi, Mthimkhulu, Jonginkulu, Polokegong, Nageng and Khayelihle primary schools.
The handover ceremony is due to take place on June 20.
