Smit said the beautiful thing about the final was that it would take place in Soweto, where soccer is far and away the most popular sport.
"First of all, either team winning the final is good for the Springboks, but history will tell you that the Blue Bulls are accustomed to winning trophies.
"They are going into the final as favourites to clinch the title, but it won't be an easy game against the Stormers, who have also done a tremendous job to reach the final. It is good for the unity of the country to see rugby played in Orlando.
"The atmosphere at the stadium was so great during the semifinal match last weekend.
"People who do not know about scrums and rucks were out in full force to watch the semifinal in Orlando last weekend. It is also good to see people who do not know anything about defenders and strikers now having embraced soccer and Bafana Bafana in particular.
"We are now seeing more and more South Africans from across the spectrum showing their support for both rugby and Bafana Bafana."
Residents of Orlando are excited about rugby being played in their area, which is providing an economic boost, while rugby lovers who went to the township for the first time were given royal treatment by Sowetans.
Some were seen drinking the "mangologolo" (750ml beers) and enjoying "chisa nyama" (braaied meat).
"Sport is doing a great job in bringing South Africans together," said Sowetan Kenny Morolo.
