SPRINGBOKS coach Peter de Villiers has predicted that Bafana Bafana will be one of the surprise packages in the World Cup.

SPRINGBOKS coach Peter de Villiers has predicted that Bafana Bafana will be one of the surprise packages in the World Cup.

De Villiers paid Bafana a courtesy visit at their base, where he showed off their "Boks 4 Bafana" message printed on the back of the Springbok jerseys.

The South African Football Association's emblem is also placed on the shoulders of the jerseys, which the Springboks will use during their tour of Wales.

Also present with the successful De Villiers was Amabhokobhoko captain John Smit, who is equally confident Carlos Alberto Parreira's charges will not be a laughing stock during the World Cup.

There was also a jersey swapping between De Villiers, Smit, Bafana captain Aaron "Mbazo" Mokoena and Parreira.

"Carlos, you don't have control over winning or losing, but one thing we have control is to unite the nation," said De Villiers.

"For us hosting the World Cup is a great occasion."

Smith said: "It is so good to be a South African, you can see all over the country people hanging the national flag on their cars and houses.

"We are fully behind Bafana Bafana and call on every South African to do the same."

Mokoena said they were inspired by the visit of the Springboks.

"We have had two motivational speakers during the camp, but the messages of support from the Springboks have been so inspirational.

"We are touched by the massive support we are getting from South Africans."

Parreira said: "Every time I meet people in the streets, they are telling me the same thing that 'coach please make us proud'.

"What I can tell you is that Bafana Bafana will do well, we'll deliver during the World Cup."
