Bantwana are fighting for the third and final spot reserved for an African country at the finals of this category, which are hosted by the Caribbean island.

Solly Luvhengo's charges are involved in a playoff match against the Tunisian girls, after both teams hit a brick wall against African powerhouses Nigeria and Ghana.

Before being knocked out by the Nigerians, South Africa had beaten everyone in their path with emphatic scorelines, but could not find their way past the West Africans. The Tunisian girls, on the other hand, suffered the same fate at the hands of Ghana.

South Africa made things even harder for themselves when they won the first leg two weeks ago by a slender 1-0. They travelled to North Africa on Tuesday with this slim lead.

The only way to get through to the premier competition now is to score goals and avoid conceding. The Tunisians are clearly not pushovers since they avoided an avalanche of away goals, but all is not lost for Luvhengo's side. If they pull it off, they will be the first-ever South African women's team to play at a World Cup.
