IT'S official, Isidingo's super- bitch Michelle Botes is back. As from next month, the star who portrayed Cherel de Villiers-Haines will be back on the SABC3 soapie.
Botes is currently playing Ingrid Jordaan in Binneland Sub Judice, which airs on M-Net.
Isidingo's head writer Ilse van Hemert confirmed Botes's return at the SABC yesterday. Van Hemert, who did not want to disclose much, said they were still working on Cherel's story-line.
She said the villain that viewers love to hate will start appearing any time from mid-June.
"For a long time people have been asking about her. We realised that we no longer had a black sheep in the story, and we brought her back. It was good that she was also willing to come back."
Van Hemert added that the story-line would be intriguing in the next few months, including Barker's marriage on August 13.
Born in 1962, Botes is one of the country's best actresses.
She joined Isidingo in 1998 as the powerful and selfish businesswoman Cherel. Her character changed to become the centre of attraction of the story-line.
Cherel killed Barker Haines's son Duncan and hid his body in a mine shaft. Immediately after that, she married Barker.
Before she disappeared in 2007, she was mentally ill.
Botes, who was born in Cape Town, went to Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town, graduating with a performer's diploma in speech and drama and a teaching diploma.
She has taught Afrikaans, drama and English, and done aromatherapy, costume design, wardrobe, translating and presenting.
