KAIZER Motaung has admitted that the days when his club could have any player they desired are over.
Chiefs have not won the league championship since 2004-05. Motaung said the reason was that other clubs now have the resources to compete with Amakhosi.
"Teams can now hold on to their best players. Even if a player wants to come to us, his club can offer him a good contract to stay with them," Motaung said after the club's year-end awards on Tuesday.
Motaung said he would ensure that the club's best talent was preserved.
"There must be an understanding between the head coach and the development coaches. We had Siyanda Xulu, whom we lost to Sundowns. It was during Muhsin Ertugral's term. so we can't have one person deciding the destiny of the whole club," Motaung said.
