KWAZULU-NATAL premier Zweli Mkhize says as long as one country in Africa is not free, the entire continent remains in bondage.
Mkhize was speaking at the opening of the 12th African Renaissance conference in Durban yesterday.
"African countries must work together to ensure that each and every country on the continent is free."
He said it was also imperative for the continent to unite and fight against malaria and HIV-Aids.
He said the high death toll of people in Africa from malaria was worrying.
African Renaissance movement chairperson and Transport Minister Sbusiso Ndebele said the pressing issue was to change the image of Africa in the rest of the world.
"When a particular image of Africa predominates, all the good of Africa is buried with Africa," Ndebele said.
"Regeneration is about overcoming one's inferiority complex."
