THE political future of IFP Women's Brigade national chairperson Thembi Nzuza hangs in the balance.
Sowetan has learnt from highly placed sources that the party's national council will make a decision about her future at its meeting in Ulundi this weekend.
Our sources said that during the NEC meeting on Sunday and Monday certain members expressed concern over Nzuza's statement opposing the postponement of the party's conference to July.
"They (NEC members) also expressed concern over the continued destabilisation of the party by Friends of Unity, Democracy and Change, formerly Friends of VZ kaMagwaza-Msibi.
"They felt that the kingpin of Friends of VZ was in the party and a recommendation was made that Nzuza be expelled because a lot of damage has been done," said an informant.
Another IFP member, Thokozani Nene, has been summoned to appear before the council this weekend.
Nene confirmed that he has been called to appear before the council on Saturday but declined to divulge further details.
Nzuza was not available for comment.
