Sport wins

THE heavens did not fall from the sky when the Blue Bulls descended on Soweto on Saturday and turned Orlando Stadium blue.

For the first time in the history of rugby in this country, black and white followers sat side-by-side watching the rugby Super 14 semifinal at the Mecca of Soccer.

Fans had beer and boerewors as if there would be no tomorrow.

From as early as 8am Soweto was abuzz with the blue colours of the Pretoria team and its famous battlecry "Die Blou Bulle!"

While the Bulls won the encounter against their New Zealand opponents on the day, the real winners were South African fans in particular and sport in general.

Sport has been known worldwide to be capable of uniting foes. That was again evident on Saturday. We look forward to next Saturday for the final.
