AMABINNEPLAAS beat Zambia 1-0 in the African Nations Championship first-leg qualifier at Katlehong Stadium yesterday.

AMABINNEPLAAS beat Zambia 1-0 in the African Nations Championship first-leg qualifier at Katlehong Stadium yesterday.

The home side, which comprised local based players, will have to up their performance in the return match in Zambia in two weeks' time.

The scoreboard does not reflect the run of the game. The the visitors were in full control in both halves and put AmaBinneplaas in all sorts of troubles.

South Africa lacked some sense of urgency up-front with Thulasizwe Mbuyane, the Orlando Pirates striker, and company failing dismally to take shots at the goals.

No goals were scored in the first half. The Zambian continued dictating terms in the second half in their attempt to find the net.

But the home side had the last laugh. Lefa Tsutsulupa, Moroka Swallows' skipper, unleashed a 25m scorcher that beat Zambian goalie Jacob Banda hands down in the 50th minute.
