RUPERT "The Natural" van Aswegen will rue agreeing to fight Isaac Chilemba on June 19 in Golden Gloves Promotions' Blockbuster bill at Emperors Palace.
That is because "Golden Boy" Chilemba is in a mean mood and eager to show his detractors that he is fit, healthy and ready to continue with his promising career.
They wrote him off after the WBC's international championship committee stripped him of the light heavyweight title two months ago.
Committee chairperson Mauro Betti told Sowetan in March that they declared the title vacant after Golden Gloves Promotions had told them that Chilemba needed medical attention.
"Golden Gloves reported to my committee that everything was curable and that as soon as Isaac was considered fit again, I would be informed at once," the Italian said.
Chilemba said some people had said his career, which started in 2005 under Nick Durandt, was over when he had merely injured his shoulder.
"I'm back to show them I am here to stay. I pity Rupert because he will bear the brunt," warned the 23-year-old former ABU super middleweight and WBO Africa light heavyweight holder.
