Man wanted for raping his grandmother

MPUMALANGA police are searching for a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped his grandmother, 70.

MPUMALANGA police are searching for a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped his grandmother, 70.

Police said the woman, who lives in Barberton, first reported the rapes to her relatives.

But the relatives failed to prevent the rapes taking place because the suspect became aggressive when he was confronted, Barberton police spokesperson Constable Jabu Ndubane said.

Ndubane said the grandmother came to the police station to open a rape case yesterday morning.

"We were all shocked at the police station when we saw the old woman opening a rape case against her own grandson.

"She told us that the man started raping her last year," Ndubane said.

The granny said her grandson would rape her all the time when he returned from work.

Ndubane said it would be easy to track down the suspect because he was not aware that the police were looking for him.

Meanwhile, a traditional healer known as Tonga is on the run after he allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl to "rid her of evil spirits in her body".
