FORMER model and born-again Christian Ayanda Ncwane will finally see her dream of publishing her own Christian magazine come true
The 26-year-old Ncwane, from Ndwedwe in KwaZulu-Natal, is the founder and editor of Isambulo - The Revelation, which will be one of very few Christian magazines that exists on the shelves.
After a rocky journey in pursuit of her dream Ncwane was on the verge of giving up many times. She did not have enough money to start her brainchild. Now it is expected to hit the shelves next month.
This spiritual, glossy, attractive magazine will be heavy in content and motivation and will discuss issues of Christianity, interview gospel musicians, have celebrity columnists and publish fashion tips.
She was introduced to Christianity some time ago and says it took a lot to convince her to become a born-again Christian.
Having been raised by her grandmother, who was a sangoma, she was only introduced to Christianity when she met her gospel singer husband Sifiso Ncwane.
She said she saw that there was a gap for a spiritual lifestyle magazine and a way to show that Christianity was not boring.
"People tend to think being a Christian means that you're no longer allowed to do certain things," she said.
Isambulo- The Revelation will profile Christians in business and will give tips on how they did it as Christians.
When asked if the magazine would profile successful people in other religions, Ncwane said: "The magazine will unfortunately not profile someone who is not a Christian."
A big gospel bash is being planned to launch the magazine on May 28 at the Jesus Dome in Durban and in Swaziland on May 29.
Ukhozi FM DJ Dudu Khoza will write a column titled Woman to Woman discussing various women's issues, while wellness adviser Tony Luck will tackle health issues.
Gospel queen Rebecca Malope, Sifiso Ncwane, Sphumelele Mbambo and Benjamin Dube are among the artists involved in the concert that is named after the magazine.
