ANGELIQUE Pretorius has struck a perfect balance between having brains as well as beauty.

The 28-year-old actress and model has had a successful career and was recently nominated as one of FHM's sexiest women in the world for 2010.

She was born in London and raised in Klerksdorp and Johannesburg where she did her schooling. She received top grades in maths, science and ad maths.

She acted in school plays and quickly amassed a collection of trophies.

Pretorius had originally planned to pursue a career in architecture and actually completed a draughting course before the acting bug bit.

Once she matriculated she took a year off to travel to Morocco, New York and Europe.

She then completed an honours degree in theatre and performance at UCT, with an additional major in English literature. She was named best bilingual student in her final year of study.

While at UCT Pretorius grabbed the opportunities to act in several theatre productions, including Ophelia in Hamlet, a role she considers to be one of the highlights of her career. She also played Miriam in Mephisto, which travelled to the Grahamstown Arts Festival.

When she moved back to Johannesburg her focus shifted from theatre to television.

Pretorius is now much loved and easily recognisable because of the many roles she has played in popular soap operas and dramas. She has acted in Snitch 2, House of Love, Madam and Eve and Kruispad.

She also acted in the film Tornado and Bloedspoor which is due for release soon.

Last year saw her return to the stage and the Grahamstown Arts Festival when she acted in Done London.

Pretorius now tries out some blankets to see which will be the best to survive winter.

She first tries a blanket from Mr Price.

"This is more of an autumn blanket. I would use it when I'm snuggling up on the sofa to watch a movie. It's lightweight and easy to manoeuvre."

Next she tries the blanket from Woolworths. "I'm not crazy about the texture. It's not fluffy and soft. It doesn't even feel new."

She now tries the blanket from NAP. "The texture does not feel soft, instead it feels quite hard and rough."

Lastly she tries the blanket from @Home.

"This qualifies as a proper winter blanket. I like that it has different textures on each side so you can flip it over and feel something different if you want to. It is also heavier and so it should be warmer. I could sleep like a baby in this one. It is definitely the best." - Keitumetse Segoai
