Get a dose of Rasdien

COMEDIAN Joey Rasdien will help chase the winter blues away with a good dose of his best medicine.

COMEDIAN Joey Rasdien will help chase the winter blues away with a good dose of his best medicine.

Rasdien will be performing at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg on May 21 and 22. The shows start at 8.30pm.

Cancel whatever else you had planned because this is a must-see show.

Difficult to miss with his neo-Afro and thick-framed spectacles, Rasdien is an old hand in the entertainment field. Having acted both on the small and big screens, the comedian is better known on the club circuit.

A genuine motormouth, Rasdien has a variety of views and opinions and has great difficulty keeping these to himself.

Rasdien has appeared in a number of local movies such as Running Riot, Bunny Chow, Vaatjie Sien Sy Gat andDollars and White Pipes, as well as the recently released performance film Outrageous.

If you follow the local stand-up circuit you will remember him from the Blacks Only Comedy series and Heavyweight Comedy Jams, which drew thousands of happy people at the popular Emperors Palace casino in Gauteng.

Unlike many "new generation" stand-up comedians, Rasdien's humour is good-natured and well-intentioned.

He explores prickly issues such as race without ever sounding obnoxious or transgressive. His ready charm quickly gets audiences on his side and his hilarious patter keeps them there.

Rasdien's new one-man show, Mixed DNA, promises to have Gold Reef City's Lyric Theatre bouncing with laughter.

Tickets cost R130 and you can book at Computicket.
