THE body of a woman was found dead in a dam on Sunday at Tshixwadza, near Mutale in Limpopo.
Women found the body floating in the water while they were washing clothes. It is suspected that the woman been murdered and thrown into the dam.
Police said the body was retrieved without any visible wounds and no arrest had been made
Mutale police spokesperson Warrant Officer Tshilidzi Nyambeni said the 52-year-old dead woman's husband was held for questioning but later released while they were waiting for forensic results.
Nyambeni said an inquest docket had been opened and the police were investigating all possible factors that might have contributed to the woman's death.
He said the body was taken to the Tshilidzini Hospital for pathology examinations.
He said it could not be established whether domestic violence had contributed to the deceased's sudden death but it had not been ruled out.
"We have taken the body to the pathologists for further investigation," Nyambeni said.
"So far the husband has been questioned but we will wait for further evidence and forensic results that will determine the cause of death."
