A 12-YEAR-OLD Limpopo boy, is facing a bleak future after he was dismissed from school on allegations of misconduct.

But the boy' s parents are adamant that their son is the victim of racism at the school.

The boy was doing Grade 7 at the Northern Academy in Polokwane until Friday last week.

School officials allegedly sent an SMS informing the boy's mother that he would be sent for detention from May 10 to June 8 as punishment for failing to do his homework. The message was sent on Thursday last week.

The boy's father said he went to the school on Friday to find out why his son was labelled a "troublemaker".

He said his son told him that he had at one stage brought the wrong books to school because he was misled by an incorrect timetable.

But the teachers said the boy was guilty and deserved to be expelled.

Provincial education department spokesperson Pat Kgomo said they could not do anything since Northern Academy was a private school.

According to a charge sheet, which Sowetan is in possession of, the boy was found guilty of, wrongdoings among other things, reporting to school without his name tag.

He was also found guilty of "talking after being asked to keep quiet". But the father said they were shocked to be told to bring back all materials belonging to the school and to fetch a transfer letter for his son.
