THE day that followers of the daily drama series Isidingo have probably been waiting for has finally arrived.
One of their new finds, a product of a competition Isidingo undertook this year to unearth new talent and hopefully bring more interesting aspects to the show, will debut today .
This is the character of S'khumbuzo "Ace" Nzimande which will be played by Sisa Hewana from Port Elizabeth.
Today marks Hewana's TV debut. Only months ago Hewana was one of thousands of hopefuls who auditioned for the nation-wide search to find Isidingo's newest star. He dazzled the judges, won the viewers' votes and was crowned the "Ace" of hearts. One hopes that, just like he did during the competition, once given this opportunity he will also shine for real.
"We're excited to finally see Sisa in action," said SABC3 brand manager Mpotseng Lebentlele.
"He has been working really hard, shooting scene after scene since he was voted as the winner. Sisa's a natural at this game, considering that he has no previous acting experience. The soapie's directors find him a joy to work with and we as SABC3 are certain that he will excel."
If a bit more about the character will help put you into perspective, just read the following:
Ace is an ex-soccer star who has played both nationally and overseas. He joins the Isidingo cast as the new presenter of ONTV's sports show. Ace is a playboy with considerable charm and possesses a dynamic personality. He's very articulate, has a lightning-fast mind, always in trouble but manages to worm his way out of it at all times. Women find him irresistible and when he transgresses you cannot stay angry with him for long.
