Viva Radebe!

IT IS a shame that Parliament was not brought down by chants of "Viva, Jeff, Viva!" yesterday.

IT IS a shame that Parliament was not brought down by chants of "Viva, Jeff, Viva!" yesterday.

You would also have expected fellow officials to give Minister of Justice Jeff Radebe a standing ovation.

Because for the first time a minister told cabinet he would deliver on his mandate or get out.

Radebe yesterday also announced he had signed a performance agreement with President Jacob Zuma.

He has committed himself to stamping out crime, securing our borders and wiping outcorruption.

"I would not have signed a performance agreement if I did not want to put my shoulder to the wheel," he said.

It is a welcome departure from listening to parliamentarians who often sound like someone talking to get his supper.

Bravo, Mr Minister. You are our man.
