Parties must keep youth leaders in line

PUBLIC spats in the DA, Minority Front and IDtowards elective conferences are rare. And all elective conferences of the ANC, Cope and IFP are characterised by insults, vulgarity and bitter infighting.

ANC members trade insults as they campaign for Paul Mashatile and Nomvula Mokonyane. In the IFP, Simingaye Mcoyi was summoned for calling Musa Zondi's supporters "dogs" in a newspaper. Cope has also joined this culture .

They use their youth to canvass, insult and intimidate . There is a thin line between Julius Malema and Anele Mda. Jacob Zuma and Mbhazima Shilowa do not publicly condemn their youth leaders. If these youth are future leaders, integrity and respect is far from achievable.
