This should be good news for The Ghost whose side have not won a major trophy for many seasons.
Pirates moved a step closer to reaching the final of Ke Yona by hammering amateur side Als Puk Tawana 4-0 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
"It's tough, especially playing against unknown sides. I have played in the lower leagues and those clubs have nothing to lose," said Mbuyane.
"We are excited to have won the match, Tawana are a tough side with some brilliant youngsters but we did our homework and deserved to win.
"Our aim is to go all the way to the final and win it for our supporters. We want to be among the two teams in the final to officially open the upgraded Soccer City."
Bucs coach Ruud Krol was understandably on cloud nine over the win against Tawana, who embarrassed Platinum Stars by bundling them out of the tournament in the first round.
"We did well, getting an early goal helped us a lot. For me the most important thing is that we won the match and are going through to the next round," said Krol.
Tawana's coach Zipho Dlangalala, who has a passion for soccer development, was still proud of his charges despite the heavy defeat.
"We are excited to have participated in this tournament, it was a learning curve for us. Our boys did well but it was not our day against Pirates."
Tawana, who play in the Vodacom Promotional League, are a feeder team of Absa Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns, whose technical director Ted Dumitru works closely with Dlangalala.
Man of the match Mbuyane opened the floodgates in the eighth minute after a corner kick by Botswana international Phenyo Mongala. The other goals came from Mongala in the 21st minute, Ndumiso Mabena in the 33rd and Dikgang Mabalane in the 44th minute.
