A loss against the Western Force at Ellis Park would equal the number of consecutive losses (11) in Super rugby that was set by the Bulls back in 2002.
Lions coach Dick Muir, though, remains upbeat ahead of tomorrow's clash.
"The mood is surprisingly good in the camp and we are looking forward to the match. Maybe it is the excitement of playing back home and realising that a win is that much closer," he said.
Muir has been forced to make a number of changes to the squad. Gert Muller and Franco van der Merwe are out injured and have been replaced by Ross Geldenhuys and George Earl.
Muir will also be without Wandile Mjekevu, who has been called up for training with the SA Sevens side, but Muir doesn't mind.
"It was not forced on us. It is about looking at the individual's future and bigger picture for the Lions. He's an exceptional player and this is a huge opportunity for Wandile to grow," he said.
The Force have hit some form recently and are fresh from a victory over the Crusaders just last weekend .
Weekend's fixtures:
TODAY - Highlanders vs Waratahs (9am), Stormers v Crusaders (7pm).
TOMORROW - Hurricanes vs Chiefs (9am), Brumbies vs Reds (11.30am), Cheetahs vs Blues (2.30pm), Lions vs Western Force (5pm) and Bulls vs Sharks (7pm).
