The Nigerian man arrested for illegally marrying a Limpopo magistrate will know today if he will be deported or face further charges.

Odera Ekwunife appeared in the Polokwane magistrate's court on Wednesday charged with fraud.

This after it was discovered that Ekwunife had married his "wife" despite the fact that his identity is still unclear.

Mary Mokone also took time off from her hectic magisterial duties to attend the court proceedings in Polokwane. Mokone, 35, works at the Senwabarwana magistrate's court.

The case was adjourned several times on Wednesday after two magistrates objected to the handling of his bail application.

It was only late in the afternoon that an acting magistrate, identified as Robert Munyai, agreed to preside over the matter in order to secure a postponement to today.

Ekwunife was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on April 12 while attempting to flee the country.

This was after officials from the Department of Home Affairs had put his name on a V-list that was circulated throughout the country to ensure that he was arrested.

Though he was found in possession of a passport identifying him as Ekwunife, the man's true identity is still a mystery.
