Tasty Dinner for One

ONE of the world's best-known classic comedy sketches, Dinner for One, will have audiences in stitches at the Joburg Promusica Theatre in Roodepoort next month.

Starring husband and wife acting team Wilson Dunster and Elize Cawood, the stage version of the cult short film is directed by André Stoltz.

A bonus spoof called Dinner for One Too, also starring Dunster and Cawood and directed by Johan Engelbrecht, will add to the fun as their roles are reversed.

Having just celebrated a sold out run, the five shows at the Promusica Theatre will take place on May 8, 28 and 29 at 8pm, and on May 9 and 30 at 4pm. This year, Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 9, and this show will make the perfect outing for that special mum.

Traditionally shown on TV on New Year's Eve, Dinner for One (also known as The 90th Birthday) was originally filmed in Hamburg, Germany, in 1963, and went on to become a cult hit around the world.

In fact, so popular was this short comical play that the Guinness Book of Records listed it as the most frequently repeated TV programme.

Today, its slapstick humour remains evergreen and irresistibly funny to all generations.

Don't miss this comedy double bill - book now at Computicket or at the theatre. Tickets cost R100 for all shows, and R80 for pensioners.

The Promusica Theatre is located at the Civic Centre in Florida Park,Roodepoort.
