Zuma has dug his own grave

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma's term of office as the country and the ANC's president will never pass any credibility test, irrespective of what his alliance partners and supporters say.

He was so desperate to be president of both institutions that he completely surrendered himself to his supporters during his corruption and rape trials. What is worse is that it appears he handsomely and clumsily rewarded those who publicly sang and danced for him with lucrative positions.

Compared to former presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, Zuma is nowhere near their leadership style . I do not expect him to copy them, but h is main weakness is his inability to demonstrate that he is in charge of Luthuli House and the Union Buildings.

Zuma is trying very hard to appease those who openly supported him at his trials and inadvertently makes people question his suitability and credibility as president of the country.

Those who led the campaign to abruptly end Mbeki's term know that Zuma is caught between a rock and a hard place. They have been silenced and ostracised.

The so-called king makers in the alliance know that it is too late for Zuma to exercise any authority for the rest of his term, unless he is prepared for a serious internal revolt that may also end his term abruptly.

Zuma's attempts to publicly rebuke Julius Malema was too little too late and it was just another publicity stunt.
