Man shot dead at home

A 40-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead at his home in Mthatha yesterday, Eastern Cape police said.

A 40-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead at his home in Mthatha yesterday, Eastern Cape police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the man was asleep in his bed at home in Bityi when an unknown suspect broke in and shot him at about 1am.

"He was shot four times in the upper body and died at the scene. His wife, who was sleeping next to him, was not hurt.

"The suspect then fled on foot."

The motive for the murder was not yet known.
