Pure arrogance

THERE is a new enfant terrible in ANC ranks. Like Julius Malema, he defies his masters and gets away with it.

THERE is a new enfant terrible in ANC ranks. Like Julius Malema, he defies his masters and gets away with it.

Like Juju, too, Department of Labour director-general Jimmy Manyi has a way of dissing his bosses without flinching.

Instead of an apology yesterday - as promised by his boss Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana - Manyi told Parliament he "was not going to talk to it about the matter".

Embarrassed Mdladlana had to give his word last week when he learnt that Manyi had told subordinates to "invent items in order to inflate his budget by R1billion".

To date nobody knows why Manyi so desperately wanted to "beat the recession".

ANC committee chairperson Lumka Yengeni backed him yesterday, à la toothless NEC in Malema's case(s).

It is an unending show of arrogance. What a shame!
