Sthembiso Ngcobo netted a hat-trick for Ea Lla Koto, with Kingston Nkatha adding a brace and Matome Madimabe also scoring. United's late consolation goal came from Boitumelo Sekgobelo. Stars led 3-0 at half time.

Said caretaker coach Themba Sithole: "We want to go all the way and we will be very happy to reach the semifinal." He said the competition was the last chance to make up for a disappointing season, but that would require the strikers to convert the scoring chances created.

l Canaan Mdletshe reports that AmaZulu secured a second successive Cup victory over rivals Maritzburg United, with a 1-0 win in Ke Yona on Saturday night. Striker Bradley Ritson scored at the death.

United dominated the first half but missed leading goalscorer Fadlu Davids, who is injured. Youngster Jabulani Ncubeni ploughed a lone furrow upfront.
