COLLINS Chabane is delighted about his daughter's performance in music.

Tsakani, 16, a Grade 12 pupil at Sanford Lake College in Magoebaskloof, Limpopo, has achieved two bronze and one silver medal in the Top 100 finals of the SA Championships for performing artists.

Chabane is a Minister in the Presidency Charged with Monitoring and Evaluation.

The competition ended in Rustenburg last Friday.

To qualify for the event, Tsakani had to be one of the top three achievers out of 36 hopefuls at the recent Supersterre competition held at the Letaba show.

Chabane said he was delighted and surprised about his daughter's achievement.

Tsakani, who can play various musical instruments, said she intends becoming a musician or journalist.

Chabane himself is also a musician with the group Movement, which he said was formed to come out with music that is responsive to society.

His younger brother Percy is also a musician in the Xitsonga traditional music category, while his youngest sister, Ellah, is a well-known gospel performer.
