SABC 2 is on the verge of presenting the new and exciting drama series Hola Mpinji.

SABC 2 is on the verge of presenting the new and exciting drama series Hola Mpinji.

The youthful, fast-paced and exciting drama series, which hopes to showcase South Africa's singing talent, starts tomorrow at 9.30pm.

Hola Mpinji is based on a very popular series of youth novels written by Zachariah Rapola, who has also written the scripts for the series.

The drama incorporates 13 episodes and is delivered in SeSotho with English subtitles.

The story is about Stanza, a young man from Alexandra in Johannesburg, whose dream is to form a new kind of hip-hop of rap and gospel group.

He has to fight against all kinds of odds to get his own music and his own group up and running.

The lack of money for costumes and registration fees to enter competitions is a huge concern. The group gets drawn into delivering cakes that, without their knowing it, is part of a drug syndicate's deliveries.

SABC 2's Zandile Nkonyeni said: "Hola Mpinji is one of SABC 2's new drama series that bodes well for many of our viewers.

"The fact that Stanza shows the determination to realise his dream is commendable. Rhere are other impediments he has to overcome, but let's wait and see what unfolds in the drama."

Hola Mpinji features actors such as Jabari Mokhooane, Patrick Shai, Gabisile Tshabalala and Motlatsi Mafatshe.

Shai is one of the celebrated actors who has tackled stage, television and film equally.

He has acted in many television series such as The Land of Dreams, Inside, La Ferme du crocodile, The Place of Lions and The Gates of Cleveland Road.

He also featured in films such Place of Weeping, Red Scorpion, Blind Justice, Schweitzer, Taxi to Soweto, Cry, the Beloved Country, Hearts and Minds, Danger Zone, The Bone Snatcher and Critical Assignment.

Mafatshe currently appears in Shooting Stars on e.tv.
