Twenty-eight female guards were unfairly dismissed by a security company because the client‚ Metrora.
A woman was raped and killed en route to her Clerkbury home near Mthatha in Eastern Cape, police said.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said yesterday: "The woman, 31, whose husband works in Mthatha, had just been to visit him and was travelling back to Clerkbury on Friday evening."
She told her husband that she would hitchhike back home.
It is unknown what happened to her between the time she left Mthatha on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
The woman's body was found in a piece of veld near Clerkbury by boys herding cattle on Saturday.
It is believed that the woman's killers raped her before slitting her throat.
Police were investigating a case of rape and murder and no one has since been arrested. - Sapa
