Female cop nabbed in dagga bust

A MPUMALANGA policewoman was among three suspects arrested after they were found with dagga worth R20000 on Friday morning.

A MPUMALANGA policewoman was among three suspects arrested after they were found with dagga worth R20000 on Friday morning.

The three were arrested after police stopped their vehicle on the N4 near the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The police woman from Malelane police station was the driver and owner of the vehicle in which several huge plastic bags containing dagga were found at about 9am.

"We were acting on information when we stopped the vehicle.

"One of the women jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the bushes when we stopped the vehicle.

"We had to use sniffer dogs to bring her out from the bushes," said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Captain Leonard Hlathi yesterday.

"The dagga was concealed in the bonnet of the vehicle meaning the policewoman must have known about it though her friends claimed she was not aware," he said. - Riot Hlatshwayo
