Union members were arrested on Tuesday after their strike, demanding fair consultation on issues affecting workers.
Union provincial chairperson Mike Shingange said they do not understand the charges because if officials were arrested for contempt of court the matter was supposed to be referred to the labour court.
Among those to face justice were union branch chairperson Calvin Muloiwa and secretary Sedzani Mukhuvhukhuvhu.
But some management members said the charges were motivated by hatred of the union and was a ploy to scare them from complaining about corruption on campus.
Shingange earlier said that they were aware of the strategy employed to stop the union anti-corruption campaign and were not going to "bow down" to it.
He said that their members went on strike because they had certificated. But the university denied this, saying the strike was illegal.
The other suspects were expected to appear in court again on June 4, while the matter was postponed for further investigation.
