THE South African Football Association yesterday paid tribute to three KwaZulu-Natal youngsters who died last week while watching the international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Paraguay that ended 1-1.
In honour of the three youngsters, Bafana Bafana observed a moment of silence at the OR Tambo International Airport yesterday on their arrival home from their successful tour of South America.
According to reports from Durban, the three youngsters used a faulty generator to watch the match on television.
Safa president Kirsten Nematandani said: "We are all saddened by the untimely death of these passionate supporters of Bafana Bafana.
"The information we have received is that they brought the generator into their house to watch Bafana Bafana (play) against Paraguay last Thursday morning.
"They inhaled its fumes and then died. Our deepest condolences to their families and we will pay them a visit during the week."
