BELGIAN musician Toots Thieleman, who is in his 80s, was a traumatised man on Sunday morning.
The iconic artist, who had decided he would no longer travel, could not resist coming to South Africa for the second time after falling in love with the country.
But his love of South Africa brought him to a forlorn moment when his friend, manager and minder, Dirk Godts, died on Saturday evening.
Godts unexpectedly collapsed and a few minutes later died of a heart attack. He had been enjoying the show in the front row.
He was certified dead while Toots was blissfully wowing fans on stage, unaware that Godts had just passed away.
