LIMPOPO soccer legends Andries "Local is Lekker" Sebola, Sydney Muchikaro and Humphrey "Boom Shaka" Sithole will conduct coaching clinics for youngsters in Phalaborwa on Saturday.
The clinics, which will be part of the second edition of the Two Legends Soccer Tournament, will be held at Namakgale Stadium.
Tournament coordinator Stan Mojela said the tournament was aimed at encouraging the legends to plough back their experience into the communities.
"This gives hope to the youngsters that there are people who are concerned about their future. Like last year, this year we will honour two legends from Phalaborwa who contributed to soccer despite the fact that they did not play in the professional ranks," Mojela said yesterday.
"Our wish is to push the event to provincial level, where the focus will be on ex-professional players. We have discovered that most of the locals are involved in soccer development on a voluntary basis as coaches, administrators, referees and club owners."
There will be matches featuring Under-10s, -12s, -14s and masters. The main match will be between Bapedi and Marumofase. Former Bucs goal poacher Sebola said the invitation to conduct clinics showed the role of ex-professional players was valued: "I am very excited to be part of this event. Our presence there will motivate youngsters to play soccer with the hope that they will turn professional in future."
